Here's the best bargain in the area: climbing Mount Washington is FREE. (Driving to the top is possible, but probably costs money.) One of my very best ever solo days was a hike up Mt. Wash on a brilliant fall day in 1995 (?). Obviously you should go well prepared, with food, water, multi layers of clothing, hiking boots, a map, and some common sense. But the trails are quite staightforward and the views are spectacular!

Yup, free is an excellent bargain. How long did it take to hike up and did you hike down as well?
